Our Story
Our story began long before gluten-free baking ever entered our lives.
We have been friends since high school in 2013. Life took us in different directions after matric in 2015, yet we remained connected as Nicholas pursued a career in physics and I followed my calling into Emergency Medical Care. A decade later, in 2023, our paths led us back to one another — this time as sweethearts. By August 2023 we were engaged, and in July 2024 we celebrated our storybook wedding.
Shortly after our wedding, my health began to decline. I was constantly unwell, despite already managing lifelong food sensitivities to pork, garlic, onion, and peas. Further allergy testing revealed a severe intolerance to wheat and gluten. Suddenly, the small comforts I could once enjoy — especially sweet treats — disappeared almost overnight.
But Nicholas is not one to give up easily.
Determined that I would still be able to enjoy food that was both safe and delicious, he began researching and experimenting with gluten-free baking. What started with chocolate lava cakes and flapjacks quickly grew into breads, biscuits, pies, and pastries. With a proper 25-litre airfryer oven and a whole lot of determination, our kitchen became a space of creativity, learning, and love.
It soon became clear that this journey was bigger than just us. So many people live with food intolerances and dietary requirements, yet struggle to find gluten-free products that are genuinely enjoyable and safe. That’s when we knew we couldn’t keep this to ourselves — and our gluten-free business was born.
In many ways, baking runs in our blood. Nicholas’s grandmother baked for over 20 years, selling cookies, pies, and cakes from her kitchen at her retirement village. Though she has since retired from baking, her trusted Kenwood mixer lives on in our kitchen. My own grandmother baked wedding cakes and handcrafted chocolate roses — a legacy we still honour. My mother, who began her gluten-free journey years before me, has also shared invaluable wisdom, including baking our gluten-free lemon poppy seed wedding cake.
Our mission is simple: to create high-quality gluten-free products that are delicious for everyone — not just those who have to be gluten-free. Because I live this lifestyle daily, we are deeply committed to ensuring that every product we offer meets the standard we would expect for our own home.
This is our story — built on love, resilience, tradition, and the belief that nobody should have to miss out on good food.
